Specie List

"Big Five" fever often causes us to forget about the smaller cats that are also part of African Hunting.  This Genet was taken by John Mclaurin of the USA.

A Scimitar Horned Oryx taken by Bennie van Niekerk in South Africa. Bennie says he is so impressed with the qualities of this rare specie that he established a herd in the Mayford area. If you are interested in one of these unusual plains game animals, it is now on the list that Bennie offers to hunters.

A very good Fallow Deer buck hunted by Bertie Swanepoel of Smithfield in the Free State(RSA).  Bertie uses a 7mm Rem Mag and took the shot just before sundown at a ranged 320m.

An old Black Wildebeest taken by Walter Busnelli from Italy.

Walter Busnelli with his 10" warthog taken on the same hunt.

A superb Lechwe hunted by  Claudio Chiappa of Italy.  Claudio uses a 270 Weatherby and took this shot at 300 meters.

Claudio Chiappa with an outstanding Steenbuck of 6 1/2 inches.  This wiley old buck has been much sought after by hunters and is the largest one taken in the Hoeksfontein area in 15 years.  Claudio used his 270 Weatherby loaded with Nosler Ballistic Tips.

Black Springbuck taken by Giuseppe Zanchi of Italy. Horns measured 13".

Daniel Long (12) took this 43" Kudu bull with a .223Rem at a distance of 280 meters.  It is his first Kudu and, judging from his shooting ability, not his last.  It is with great pride that we see the young hunters doing so well.

John Mclauren of the USA with his 6.25" Steenbuck.  John shot it "Just for granted".

Toni Inggs - 10 days before her 16th birthday

Hoeksfontein is  massive and wherever you look, you see all different kinds of animals.  My father asked me if I would like to shoot a buck.  I got very excited.  We stalked for some time and found a  beautiful Springbuck ram.    We crept closer until we were only 120 meters away.   I placed the 223 on the sticks and got comfortable.  I had a perfect view of it, and aimed for the spot just behind the front leg.  My heart was pounding and my eyes were twitching;  I was so nervous but excited at the same time.  I squeezed  the trigger and .......BANG. The Springbuck fell forward behind the bush. "It's a trophy my girl!" my father said..The horns were 14'' and  the most beautiful Springbuck  I have ever seen. SO HOW'S THAT FOR A FIRST KILL?   I got the best one and was privileged to shoot it on such a wonderful farm as Hoeksfontein just outside Pearston .Thank you so much Bennie for the best weekend ever.  - Toni Inggs

Jose Manuel of Spain with his 6" Mountain Reedbuck

Louis van Niekerk with his very first buck, a 15" Blesbuck.  The buck was taken with a .223 at 200 metres. According to tradition, Louis was blooded and welcomed to the fold of Hunters. Louis is Bennie's son and eight years old at the time.

Bennie van Niekerk with a Nyala bull of 27".  Why do we have to go to Natal when quality like this is right here in the Eastern Cape?

Louis van Niekerk with a beautiful Springbuck of 14" taken at 180 metres also with a .223.

It is difficult to imagine a White Springbuck that is whiter than this one.  The horns measured a respectable 13" as well.

Why settle for just one when all three are available? Jose Torres with his white, black and natural springbuck. They were taken on one day and the last was shot before caping had started on the first. Few hunters can boast of such luck but, of course, the harder you work, the luckier you get.
